Lisa
Feather Knee describes her work: “much of my imagery is drawn from my
passion for the natural world. I grew up among artists in Santa Fe, so my
first instinct as a painter was toward landscapes and vivid colors. The
freshness and immediacy of works done on location appeal to me. Painting
outside has taught me to capture essential details quickly, although it
still can take months to complete a painting. The first impressions laid
down in paint start a process of layering that goes on and on.” Reception:

month’s windows feature a display by “Airplane John.” View the
collection of die-cast metal airplanes featuring WW II fighters, bombers,
airliners and helicopters before they fly away. All planes are built to
scale and recall times past!

Gail’s Coffee Corner
Our Neapolitan Espresso is oak roasted by traditional, handcrafted methods. The Mr. Espresso roastery in Oakland, winner of 10 Gold Medal awards from Chefs in America, roasts the varietal beans separately before blending them. The result of this process is a rich, nutty flavor with a hint of blackberry and a pleasing acidity in the finish. Neapolitan Espresso is also a delicious blend for french-press or drip brewing and makes great iced coffee – perfect for August.
August’s bean special: $8.50 per pound (regularly $9.50) and $4.50 per half-pound (regularly $5.50).

Good Bye Jamilla
With happiness & sorrow, we say good bye to Jamilla. After many years of laughs and jokes, she is moving on. We are happy that she is only moving to Hazel’s. As one customer writes, “Jamilla makes the most beautiful cappuccino in the city and it always comes with a big dose of heart. I’m glad to know that that big raucous laugh is only moving two doors up!”
