Farley’s goal is to create a focal point for the community where everyone is comfortable and feels welcome. By creating a personable place, a human place, Farley’s provides an arena for people to interact with one another. The character of Farley’s mirrors the uniqueness of the people and allows for a genuine and distinctive experience for everyone.

Roger Farley Hillyard broke his coffeepot back in 1988 and could not find a store to purchase a replacement part. After scouring the city, Farley’s was conceptualized as a coffee and tea store. Through various incarnations, the present day concept of creating a place of community for the community was developed. After a small fire delayed the initial opening, Farley’s “grand opening” took place on St. Patrick’s Day in 1989. Farley’s has been right at home on Potrero Hill ever since. 

Farley’s is named after the infamous Jack Farley who disappeared without trace in 1921.
