CELEBRATE-FARLEY'S TURNS 18!

March 17 (Saint Patrick's Day), marks Farley's 18th anniversary. Looking back it has been a long 18 years, but gone extremely quickly. There have been many, many fond memories and an absolute joy and blessing to watch couples meet, have families, see children grow and watch the community develop. We thank you for allowing us to be a part of this beautiful process. We look forward to many more fond memories and good times.

As some of you know, prior to Farley's, the 1315 18th Street building was the Prisoners Rights Union (PRU). The PRU was a non-profit organization lobbying on behalf of prisoners rights. In the spirit of PRU and Farley's birthday, this month's art show features images from the last days of SF County Jail 3 and the first days of its replacement, SF County Jail 5.

We thank you all for eighteen wonderful years!

Artist of the Month

Robert Gumpert, “Banged UP”

A documentary photographer for 33 years Robert Gumpert has concentrated over the last decade on the social institutions of criminal justice and healthcare and how they differ in real life from depictions in popular culture. “Banged UP”, the English term for being incarcerated, is a selection of images from the last days of SF County Jail 3, California's oldest working county jail, and the first days of its replacement, SF County Jail 5. Both jails, in their time, represented the very latest in “Banged Up” philosophy.
