September 2006 Newsletter

We've just rolled out our newly re-designed web site. The new design features our little human mascots, the Hillies & the Farlettes, and our "Community in a Cup" slogan. You will also find some nice new features, like galleries of Farley's journals art and posters. And don't forget the Store page for that unique Farley's merchandise. The new site design was produced by long-time Farley's customer and neighbor Ralph Wilson, who also took a number of photos for the new site.

Art Works

Mark Faigenbaum works in mixed media. He is drawn to objects that physically reflect the passage of time – decaying newspapers, old books, damaged photographs, outdated technical drawings and discarded machine parts. He combines these assorted materials using layering, repetition and assemblage to create shapes and patterns that move beyond purely physical representation to suggest invisible connections. His work has been shown nationally and internationally. He has twice been an artist in residence at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and recently finished a residency at San Francisco Recycling and Disposal. More of his work can be viewed at www.industrialmandalas.com

Goodbye: Sad to report that Rebecca leaves us, but for good reason. She reports: “I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate working at Farley’s…it functions on so many levels, and has been an amazing learning experience to be a part of. I love the staff and the clientele as well. I have been hired to teach three classes this fall and winter at the Finn Community School of Art and Music in Silicon Valley.”
